Canoe Landing Community Recreation Centre

The City, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) collaborated to build a 163,500 sq. ft.  multi-use community facility next to Canoe Landing Park. This new facility includes a community centre, a community space, a childcare centre and both a Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and a Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) elementary schools. With its design focused on being at the centre of the community, these additions to the neighborhood have become a destination for children, youths, and seniors alike, benefiting this community for years to come.

The program for the City community centre includes a double gymnasium with a mezzanine running track, change rooms, multi-purpose rooms, studio fitness/ dance rooms, an indoor playroom, meeting rooms, a pre-school room, a teaching kitchen, lobby, reception, an administrative area and ancillary spaces. The roof of the community centre includes a basketball court, a walking track, a lounge area, and a garden area.

The west end of the community centre is directly connected to a large, dedicated community space which opens onto an outdoor plaza. The community space is a large open double volume space with an upper mezzanine level and is intended for community use.

An enclosed pedestrian bridge connects the community centre to the schools and child-care centre. The City child-care centre program includes one infant playroom and sleep room, one toddler playroom, two pre-school rooms, ancillary spaces and dedicated outdoor play space.
